जिसने राग-द्वेष कामादिक जीते, सब जग जान लिया,
सब जीवों को मोक्ष मार्ग का, निस्पृह हो उपदेश दिया।
बुद्ध, वीर, जिन, हरि, हर, ब्रह्मा, या उसको स्वाधीन कहो,
भक्ति-भाव से प्रेरित हो यह, चित्त उसी में लीन रहो॥
Jisne raag dwesh kamadik jeete, sab jag jaan liya,
Sab jeevo ko moksha marg ka, nispruh ho updesh diya.
Buddha, Veer, Jin, Hari, Har, Brahma, ya usko swadhin kaho,
Bhakti bhav se prerit ho yah, chitt usi mein leen raho.
Meaning: May my mind remain absorbed in devotion to that Supreme Soul who has conquered attachment, aversion, and passions; who knows the entire universe; and who has selflessly preached the path of liberation to all beings—whether you call him Buddha, Mahavira, Jina, Hari, Hara, Brahma, or the Independent One.
विषयों की आशा नहिं जिनके, साम्य-भाव धन रखते हैं,
निज पर के हित-साधन में जो, निश-दिन तत्पर रहते हैं।
स्वार्थ-त्याग की कठिन तपस्या, बिना खेद जो करते हैं,
ऐसे ज्ञानी साधु जगत के, दुख समूह को हरते हैं॥
Vishayon ki asha nahin jinke, samya-bhav dhan rakhte hain,
Nij par ke hit-sadhan mein jo, nish-din tatpar rehte hain.
Swarth-tyag ki kathin tapasya, bina khed jo karte hain,
Aise gyani sadhu jagat ke, dukh samuh ko harte hain.
Meaning: I bow to those wise saints who have no desire for sensual pleasures, who possess the wealth of equanimity, who are ever ready to work for the welfare of themselves and others, and who perform the difficult penance of self-sacrifice without any regret. They remove the sorrows of the world.
रहे सदा सत्संग उन्हीं का, ध्यान उन्हीं का नित्य रहे,
उन्हीं जैसी चर्या में यह, चित्त सदा अनुरक्त रहे।
नहीं सताऊँ किसी जीव को, झूठ कभी नहिं कहा करूँ,
पर-धन-वनिता पर न लुभाऊँ, संतोषामृत पिया करूँ॥
Rahe sada satsang unhi ka, dhyan unhi ka nitya rahe,
Unhi jaisi charya mein yah, chitt sada anurakt rahe.
Nahin sataun kisi jeev ko, jhooth kabhi nahin kaha karun,
Par-dhan-vanita par na lubhaun, santoshamrit piya karun.
Meaning: May I always have the company of such saints and meditate upon them. May my mind always follow their conduct. May I never torment any living being, never speak a lie, never covet another's wealth or spouse, and always drink the nectar of contentment.
अहंकार का भाव न रक्खूँ, नहीं किसी पर क्रोध करूँ,
देख दूसरों की बढ़ती को, कभी न ईर्ष्या भाव धरूँ।
रहे भावना ऐसी मेरी, सरल सत्य व्यवहार करूँ,
बने जहाँ तक इस जीवन में, औरों का उपकार करूँ॥
Ahankar ka bhav na rakkhun, nahin kisi par krodh karun,
Dekh dusron ki badhti ko, kabhi na irshya bhav dharun.
Rahe bhavna aisi meri, saral satya vyavahar karun,
Bane jahan tak is jeevan mein, auron ka upkar karun.
Meaning: May I never have ego, nor be angry with anyone. May I never feel jealous seeing the prosperity of others. May my disposition be such that I always act with simplicity and truth, and as much as possible in this life, may I do good to others.
मैत्री भाव जगत में मेरा, सब जीवों से नित्य रहे,
दीन-दुखी जीवों पर मेरे, उर से करुणा-स्रोत बहे।
दुर्जन-क्रूर-कुमार्ग-रतों पर, क्षोभ नहीं मुझको आवे,
साम्यभाव रक्खूँ मैं उन पर, ऐसी परिणति हो जावे॥
Maitri bhav jagat mein mera, sab jeevo se nitya rahe,
Deen-dukhi jeevo par mere, ur se karuna-srot bahe.
Durjan-kroor-kumarg-raton par, kshobh nahin mujhko aave,
Samyabhav rakkhun main un par, aisi parinati ho jave.
Meaning: May I have a feeling of universal friendship towards all living beings. May the stream of compassion flow from my heart for the poor and suffering. May I not feel agitated towards the wicked, the cruel, and those on the wrong path; instead, may I maintain an attitude of equanimity towards them.
गुणी जनों को देख हृदय में, मेरे प्रेम उमड़ आवे,
बने जहाँ तक उनकी सेवा, करके यह मन सुख पावे।
होऊँ नहीं कृतघ्न कभी मैं, द्रोह न मेरे उर आवे,
गुण-ग्रहण का भाव रहे नित, दृष्टि न दोषों पर जावे॥
Guni janon ko dekh hriday mein, mere prem umad aave,
Bane jahan tak unki seva, karke yah man sukh paave.
Houn nahin krutaghna kabhi main, droh na mere ur aave,
Gun-grahan ka bhav rahe nit, drishti na doshon par jave.
Meaning: Seeing virtuous people, may my heart overflow with love. May I find happiness in serving them to the best of my ability. May I never be ungrateful, nor harbor ill-will. May I always strive to imbibe virtues and never look at the faults of others.
कोई बुरा कहे या अच्छा, लक्ष्मी आवे या जावे,
लाखों वर्षों तक जीऊँ या, मृत्यु आज ही आ जावे।
अथवा कोई कैसा ही भय, या लालच देने आवे,
तो भी न्याय मार्ग से मेरा, कभी न पद डिगने पावे॥
Koi bura kahe ya achcha, lakshmi aave ya jave,
Lakhon varshon tak jeeun ya, mrityu aaj hi aa jave.
Athava koi kaisa hi bhay, ya lalach dene aave,
To bhi nyaya marg se mera, kabhi na pad digna paave.
Meaning: Whether someone praises or criticizes me, whether wealth comes or goes, whether I live for millions of years or die today, whether someone threatens me with fear or tempts me with greed—may my steps never waver from the path of justice and righteousness.
होकर सुख में मग्न न फूले, दुख में कभी न घबरावे,
पर्वत नदी श्मशान भयानक, अटवी से नहिं भय खावे।
रहे अडोल अकंप निरंतर, यह मन दृढ़तर बन जावे,
इष्ट वियोग अनिष्ट योग में, सहनशीलता दिखलावे॥
Hokar sukh mein magn na phoole, dukh mein kabhi na ghabrave,
Parvat nadi shamshan bhayanak, atavi se nahin bhay khave.
Rahe adol akamp nirantar, yah man dridhtar ban jave,
Isht viyog anisht yog mein, sahansheelta dikhlave.
Meaning: May I not be puffed up in happiness nor panic in sorrow. May I not fear mountains, rivers, terrifying cremation grounds, or dense forests. May my mind remain unshakable and firm. May I show tolerance in the separation from the loved and the union with the unloved.
सुखी रहें सब जीव जगत के, कोई कभी न घबरावे,
बैर-पाप-अभिमान छोड़ जग, नित्य नये मंगल गावे।
घर-घर चर्चा रहे धर्म की, दुष्कृत-दुष्कर हो जावे,
ज्ञान-चरित उन्नत कर अपना, मनुज जन्म फल सब पावे॥
Sukhi rahen sab jeev jagat ke, koi kabhi na ghabrave,
Bair-paap-abhiman chod jag, nitya naye mangal gave.
Ghar-ghar charcha rahe dharm ki, dushkrit-dushkar ho jave,
Gyan-charit unnat kar apna, manuj janm phal sab paave.
Meaning: May all beings in the world be happy; may no one ever feel afraid. Abandoning enmity, sin, and pride, may the world sing songs of auspiciousness daily. May Dharma be discussed in every home, and may evil deeds become difficult to perform. May everyone elevate their knowledge and character and attain the fruit of human birth.
ईति-भीति व्यापै नहिं जग में, वृष्टि समय पर हुआ करे,
धर्मनिष्ठ होकर राजा भी, न्याय प्रजा का किया करे।
रोग-मरी दुर्भिक्ष न फैले, प्रजा शांति से जिया करे,
परम अहिंसा धर्म जगत में, फैल सर्व हित किया करे॥
Eeti-bheeti vyapai nahin jag mein, vrishti samay par hua kare,
Dharm-nishth hokar raja bhi, nyaya praja ka kiya kare.
Rog-mari durbhiksh na phaile, praja shanti se jiya kare,
Param ahimsa dharm jagat में, phail sarv hit kiya kare.
Meaning: May there be no calamities or fear in the world; may rain fall on time. May the rulers be righteous and administer justice to the subjects. May diseases, plagues, and famines not spread; may people live in peace. May the supreme religion of Non-Violence spread in the world and benefit all.
फैले प्रेम परस्पर जग में, मोह दूर ही रहा करे,
अप्रिय-कटुक-कठोर शब्द नहिं, कोई मुख से कहा करे।
बनकर सब 'युग-वीर' हृदय से, देशोन्नति रत रहा करें,
वस्तुस्वरूप-विचार खुशी से, सब दुख संकट सहा करें॥
Phaile prem paraspar jag mein, moh door hi raha kare,
Apriya-katuk-kathor shabd nahin, koi mukh se kaha kare.
Bankar sab 'Yug-Veer' hriday se, deshon-nati rat raha karen,
Vastu-swaroop-vichar khushi se, sab dukh sankat saha karen.
Meaning: May mutual love spread in the world; may delusion remain far away. May no one speak unpleasant, bitter, or harsh words. Becoming 'Heroes of the Era,' may everyone be devoted to the progress of the nation. Contemplating the true nature of reality, may everyone bear all sorrows and crises with happiness.
