Acharya Sanmati Sagar Ji was a highly revered Digambara Jain monk, known as "Tapasvi Samrat" for his rigorous austerity. He was the third Pattadhish (Head) of the Acharya Aadi Sagar Ji lineage and a disciple of Acharya Vimal Sagar Ji and Acharya Mahavir Kirti Ji.

He took Muni Diksha (monastic initiation) at the age of 25 on Phalgun Sudi 13, Samvat 2019. The ceremony took place at the holiest Jain pilgrimage site, Sammed Shikharji, under the guidance of Acharya Vimal Sagar Ji Maharaj.

He was conferred the Acharya Pad on February 9, 1984, in Mehsana, Gujarat. Acharya Mahavir Kirti Ji Maharaj, recognizing his spiritual depth and service during his final days (Samadhi Kaal), declared Sanmati Sagar Ji as his successor and the head of the Sangh.

His birth name was Omprakash Jain. He was born in the village of Fafotu, District Eta, Uttar Pradesh. His parents were Shri Pyarelal Ji (Father) and Smt. Jaymala Devi (Mother). He held a B.A. degree before renouncing worldly life.
