About

About The Jain Religion

A devotional and educational resource, open to every Jain tradition and to anyone who wishes to understand.

What this site is for

thejainreligion.in exists to make the teachings of Jain dharma clear, accurate and freely available. Whether you are looking for the dates of Paryushan, the meaning of a verse you heard at pravachan, the emblem of a particular Tirthankara, or how to reach a tirth, the answer should be here — plainly written, and correct.

Our approach

Every tradition, without preference

Jainism is not one practice. Where the Digambar and Shwetambar traditions differ — on the dates of Paryushan, on the number of auspicious dreams, on details of iconography — we show both, side by side, in identical styling. We do not flatten those differences, and we do not choose between them.

Accuracy before completeness

Where a date, a life account or an attribution has not been verified against an authoritative source, we say so rather than guess. Pages that depend on the panchang carry a note asking you to confirm with your local sangh, because tithi timings genuinely vary by region.

Free, and free of advertising

There is no advertising on this site and nothing is sold here. We ask for a phone number or email only if you choose to receive festival reminders, and we use it for nothing else. See our Privacy Policy.

What you will find here

Corrections and contributions

If you find an error — a date, a name, an attribution, a transliteration — please tell us. Scriptural and historical accuracy matters more to us than being first, and corrections from knowledgeable readers are genuinely welcome. You can also add your temple or sangh to our directory.
