Life & History
According to Jain tradition, Abhinandananatha was born into the Ikshvaku dynasty to King Samvara and Queen Siddhartha in the city of Ayodhya.
Beyond the traditional account of his royal birth, renunciation, and attainment of enlightenment, detailed biographical material is sparse, which is typical for most Tirthankaras of this early period in Jain cosmology. He is identified by his emblem, the monkey.
His role, as with the other Tirthankaras, is understood primarily as that of a spiritual guide who re-established the fourfold Jain community and taught the eternal path to liberation for beings of his time.
Teaching & Significance
Abhinandananatha taught the same enduring Jain principles of non-violence, truthfulness, and renunciation that guide the soul toward liberation.
